Criteria
Criteria for buildings or barns:
1. Building or barn should be old enough to be considered historic
(generally at least 50 years old). In addition the property must:
a.) be associated with events, activities, or developments that were
important in the past; or
b.) be associated with the lives of people who were important in the past; or
c.) be significant in the areas of architectural history, landscape history; or
d.) have the potential to yield information through archaeological investigation
that would answer questions about our past.
2. Must be on hard surface road.
3. Must be clearly visible from the road.
4. Must be on sites that are well kept.
Criteria for Traditional Quilt Pattern eligibility:
1. Old quilts that are hand pieced or hand appliquéd
2. Old quilts that a favorite relative hand quilted for the owner of the structure being
used (Mother, grandmother, aunt, etc…)
3. Patterns if possible should be the same era or earlier than the structure being used
4. Patterns that have some significance to that particular business
(Bridal Shop – Double Wedding Ring, Ladies Apparel – Fan,
Bookstore – Tree of Life, etc.)
5. Patterns should not be duplicated within the same community.
