School Involvement

The Southern Quilt Trail is seeking high school
art departments to participate in the painting of
traditional quilt square patterns on 8’ x 8’ (two
4’x8’) or 4’ x 4’ panels of plywood.  The schools
participating with the Quilt Program will be
furnished instructions, materials and a scaled
quilt block pattern.  After the painting is
completed the Southern Quilt Trail Committee
(SQTC)will have the panels assembled and
permanently attached to selected nearby barns
or buildings.
This is an excellent opportunity to teach
students about the historic art form of
quilting, geometric art forms and the public
display and enjoyment of art.  Students will
also share in the pride of their work being
visible in their communities for all to see
and enjoy.
